Eric Harmsen Film Composer Bio:
From concert tunings to concert performances, it has been an adventure. For the past two decades, I have been busily involved in the world of piano technology, where I have tuned, repaired, and serviced pianos within homes, concert venues, universities, etc. Now, I am embarking on the new venue, media scoring. Capturing the emotions on-screen through music is the penultimate aspiration.
I have observed how the musical community with which I surround myself has had a profound impact on my musical endeavors, and how everyday occurrences within life will take our creative vibes into new and unchartered territories.
I have always been inspired by the musical contributions of a world dense in color, creativity, and inventions. From my favorite 80s bands to musicals that have changed my life, to specific people who have embedded within me the yearning to musically explore my soul, it has been a fantastic journey.
My Film Scoring journey started out rather abruptly. From hearing my music performed by the Budapest Scoring Symphony, composing music using modern synthesized sounds that accompany a scene that happened 200 years ago, to composing scores for various movie scenes, music is a language all on its own, that is universally understood.
The ability to capture what is seen on the screen through music is a lifelong endeavor and traditionally has been highly influential in the overall enjoyment of a good movie.
Emotions drawn from a well-written and recorded score can have a profound effect upon the listener when adapted to the silver screen. Movies are a way of life, and the music that accompanies them leaves a deep impression within our hearts.
The projects that I have completed and the ones that I continue to pursue are bred from a life that has been deeply enriched by music, and the talents and examples of so many experienced musicians and geniuses within the field who have gone before me. My contributions to the field are unique and original. They are the result of generations of musicians and scenarios, of an unrehearsed life that has placed me in the right positions, and opportunities that I couldn’t have even dreamt of. Music is the language of the soul, and it is my privilege to share a piece of my soul with the world.
